IKEA SKÅDIS pegboard dimensions for designing accessories
SKÅDIS is IKEA's pegboard system with vertical slots instead of round holes. If you design your own hooks and holders, these are the dimensions that matter. (Measured on genuine boards; manufacturing varies by a few tenths of a millimetre, so leave clearance.)
- Slot
- 5 mm wide × 15 mm tall, rounded ends
- Spacing in a row
- 40 mm (centre to centre)
- Offset grid
- Second set of slots shifted 20 mm horizontally and 20 mm vertically
- Board thickness
- 5 mm
- Board sizes
- 36 × 56 cm, 56 × 56 cm, 76 × 56 cm
Slot pattern
The slots form two interleaved grids. Within each grid, slots repeat every 40 mm horizontally and vertically. The second grid is offset by half a pitch (20 mm) in both directions, so each slot has diagonal neighbours at about 28 mm. Accessories that use two hooks side by side therefore hook into slots 40 mm apart in the same row.
Designing hooks that fit
- Hook tab width: about 4.2–4.5 mm (slot is 5 mm) so it slides in easily.
- Tab reach through the board: board thickness + 0.4 mm (≈ 5.4 mm), then a downward lip behind the board.
- Tab height + lip must stay below the 15 mm slot height so the hook can be inserted, then dropped.
- Add a straight anti-rotation peg one pitch (40 mm) below the hook so the accessory can't tilt forward.
- Round the bottom of the tab to match the rounded slot end — square tabs sit higher than you expect.
- Print hooks lying on their side so the layers run along the tab.
Skip the math
FitPrint has these rules built into a verified SKÅDIS mount and runs a virtual-board collision check on every accessory. Describe the item, and the hooks are placed for you.
